February 16: Progress, Not Perfection

We all make mistakes, and it’s especially tough when we repeat them—especially after promising ourselves we won’t. Maybe it’s reacting impulsively to a trigger or saying something we know isn’t helpful. But here’s the thing: the key isn’t in avoiding mistakes but in resetting and letting go of the guilt when they happen.
My idea for this post came from yesterday’s experience. I started the day with the intention to pause before responding. I was in a great place and feeling more enlightened than ever when I wrote my post, but not long after, I found myself stuck in negative thoughts I couldn’t shake off—kind of like how Taylor Swift advises in her song. It was frustrating because I couldn’t let go of those emotions in the allotted 90 seconds. I wondered why this was so hard, which could very well be the reason why I was stuck because I had certain expectations. But then, after a long, long pause, I realized I was stuck in my ego self and to get out of it, I shifted back to a place of love and began to focus on the other person’s perspective, putting myself in their shoes instead of just serving my own needs.
Yesterday the universe gave me a little test to remind me that I still have a lot of growth ahead. But that’s okay because every mistake is an opportunity for growth, and it’s about progress, not perfection. I can confidently say that I’ve come a long way and that I’m excited to see what’s ahead and am ready to take on the tests and challenges. I've learned that the answer only came after I let go of the ego and tapped into my Higher Self, which was Love.
Today instead of dwelling on mistakes, think about what you can do differently next time. Focus on always improving and becoming a better version of yourself, not perfection and remind yourself of all the progress you’ve already made!
